Hanukkah Pet Health and Safety

ADMIN

Hanukkah  this year begins on Thursday December 10 th  , which is the 25 th  day of the Jewish month of Kislev. There is no better way to celebrate the Festival of Lights than with your furry friends. Like all celebrations in 2020,  Hanukkah  will look a little different this year. Large gatherings around the world may not happen, but that does not mean you have to miss out on the celebration all together. Follow these tips to enjoy this  Hanukkah  with your pets safely:

  • Traditional foods during  Hanukkah  are so yummy but can be harmful to your pets, like latkes and Sufganiyot.
  • Spinning the dreidel can be fun, but it is not fun pulling it out of your dog’s mouth. Be careful your fur-baby does not swallow your fun dreidel!
  • Gold-covered chocolate “coins”, Gelt, are fun to sprinkle around the table and share with humans but not with your pets. An ingredient in chocolate can make it very dangerous for pets.
  • The Festival of Lights is not complete without a beautifully lit Menorah. A happy wagging puppy tail or a curious kitty can knock the Menorah with candles over. Always use extreme caution with pets and lit candles.
