First Dog Confirmed with COVID-19

ADMIN

A Pug in North Carolina was diagnosed with COVID19 , which may be the first case of a pet dog  in the U.S. with the virus. Several members of the family were symptomatic and tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully their dog, Winston, only had mild symptoms and is expected to make a full recovery.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines on pets say, “there is no evidence that animals play a significant role in spreading the virus that causes COVID-19,” but recommends you treat them “as you would  other human family members.”

We still have the same recommendations to all of our families for their pets: Make sure to have a plan in place for someone to watch your pet in the event you contract the virus. Science shows that pets can improve our mental health during these tough times. If you have no symptoms, hold your fur babies close.
