MEET OUR VETERINARIANS
Monica Fernandez , DVM
Dr. Monica Fernandez began her career in veterinary medicine in 1988 as kennel assistant at Coral Springs Animal Hospital (located in Coral Springs, Florida). She soon advanced to the position of technician assistant and continued to work there for ten years. It was during this time that she began attending The University of Florida’s College of Agriculture. She began working at Knowles Animal Clinic, in Miami, Florida during summer breaks from The University. In 1996, Dr. Fernandez graduated with a bachelor of science with highest honors and began attending The University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2000, she graduated magna cum laude with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. For the year following her graduation, Dr. Fernandez lived and worked in Miami, working emergency medicine at Knowles Animal Clinic. In 2001, she moved back to Broward County and began working at Lakeside Animal Hospital located in Plantation. Two years later, she purchased that practice which she continues to own today.
Dr. Fernandez is pictured with her Australian Shepherd, “Trigger.” Trig, as he is more commonly known, is not only handsome, he’s extremely smart as well, being a star student in his puppy class & excelling with his obedience training. Trig loves to visit us here at the office, so you may have a chance to meet him the next time you’re here with your pet!
Kelly Saporito, DVM
Dr. Kelly Saporito began her career in veterinary medicine as a kennel assistant in Rochester, NY (where she was born and raised) when she was fifteen years old. Through high school and later, while attending The State University of Morrisville, she would continue to work at that same animal hospital as a receptionist, technician assistant, and eventually as a veterinary assistant. Dr. Saporito received her Associates Degree in Agricultural Science from The State University of Morrisville in 2001. She then received her Bachelor of Science and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 2007. After completing veterinary school, Dr. Saporito moved to south Florida where she completed her internship at Coral Springs Animal Hospital. She became a Lakeside Animal Hospital team member in July of 2008.
Dr. Saporito is the proud owner of two lovable cats and a high-energy, but incredibly sweet, pit bull named Brin. Brin was adopted last year and has kept Dr. Saporito laughing since then.
Robyn Baldwin, DVM
Dr. Robyn Baldwin was born and raised in Maryland, and graduated from the University of Maryland General Honors Program in 1989. She then attended veterinary school at the University of California, Davis, and graduated in 1993. After
completing an internship in small animal medicine and surgery with the
Sacramento Animal Medical Group, she and her husband moved to Florida in
1994.
Dr. Baldwin practiced veterinary medicine in Gainesville, Florida for four years before moving to South Florida in 1998. She is very excited to have joined the Lakeside Veterinary Hospital team in 2011.
Dr. Baldwin is a general practitioner whose professional interests include small animal medicine, management of acute and chronic pain, especially dermatology. She would love to help manage your pets’ skin, ear, and allergy problems!
Dr. Jeff Toll
Dr. Jeff Toll graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990.
After 5 years in general practice, Dr. Toll completed a residency in
Small Animal Internal Medicine at Cornell University, becoming board
certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine
(ACVIM) in 1998. He served one year at Cornell University as a Lecturer
in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Toll was then employed at the Animal Medical
Center in Cooper City, Florida from 1998 to 2007, where he practiced
veterinary internal medicine, supervised canine and feline blood donor
programs, established the first veterinary hemodialysis service in
Florida, performed clinical research, authored numerous scientific
publications, and trained interns and residents. Dr. Toll is a member of
the ACVIM Board of Regents and past president of the ACVIM Foundation.
Dr. Toll lives in Miami Beach with his wife Julie, Kelly the Corgi, and
somewhere between 3 and 10 cats, depending on the day and who is asking.
